Abstract

The Baurusuchidae have the highest diversity of Crocodyliformes of the Upper Cretaceous of the Adamantina Formation (Bauru Basin, Upper Cretaceous). The specimen to be studied in this project was collected in one of the most exploited locations of such stratigraphic unit, Fazenda Furnas, in the municipality of Jales-SP. The project aims to provide the complete description of such specimen which contains almost complete cranium and post-cranium, its taxonomic identification and phylogenetic positioning. The addition of new characters mainly from the post-cranial region in phylogenetic analyzes, scarce in previous works, will provide a better evaluation of the position of the new specimen among the baurusuchids. In addition, the description will be increased by the use of three-dimensional digital images acquired by computed tomography, where each bone element will be segmented, resulting in a more refined description and possibly the establishment of new phylogenetic characters.
