Abstract

Climatic changes represent important threats for the biodiversity. This is especially aggravated in great urban centers, which concentrate a high population. As results, threats like housing bubble, inadequate or violated laws, illegal extraction of forest resources, poor management of urban waste and several forms of pollution, and in this context is the Metropolitan region of São Paulo. In response to strong threats, the Reserva da Biosfera do Cinturão Verde of São Paulo stands as an important step towards conservation of the biodiversity found in the area. Ecological niche and species distribution modelling are the main tools to infer the impact of climatic changes over the biodiversity, but demand extensive databases checked by specialists. In front of this, this project aims to consolidate the knowledge on Euphorbiaceae found on the Reserva da Biosfera do Cinturão Verde of São Paulo and, then, with a checked database, apply modelling techniques on selected taxa to infer possible changes in their geographical range, providing data for elaboration of public policies focused on biodiversity conservation in the state of São Paulo.
