Abstract

In order to contribute to the debate about the construction of the hate, the research aims to understand hate crimes from three case studies. I will describe the interaction among the social contexts, the agents (protagonists as victims or as aggressors), the motivations of these crimes, the means and behavior employed in the actions, the intervention of the authorities and agencies in charge of the legal control of public order. From the reconstruction of these crimes, the analysis will seek to connect hate crimes with specific events that compose global and regional trends. The ultimate objective will be to understand, on one hand, the mechanisms that materialize hate crimes and, on the other, their discursive structure.
