Abstract

The master's research entitled "Environmental vulnerability to the linear erosive processes of the south-central sector of the municipality of Mirante do Paranapanema - SP", which this proposal of internship is linked, has as main objective the understanding of the morphodynamics related to the use and occupation of the which may or may not lead to the intensification of linear erosive processes (furrows, ravines and gullies). Factors linked to natural and social dynamics generate means with variations of vulnerability indexes, making social groups less or more vulnerable to something, in this case erosive processes. To understand them, it is necessary to discuss the concepts of natural hazard, vulnerability, hazard/hazard hazard (USA)/Aléas (FR), susceptibility and resilience (CUNHA 2001). Increased vulnerability, risks and disasters across the globe have led to a growing interest in this subject in recent years. Considering that disasters are both natural events and social events, we seek to understand and represent the risk indexes and environmental vulnerability, through cartographic analysis and representation (spatialization), understanding of social aspects (social characteristics of the population, history (geology, pedology, geomorphology, slope curvature, declivity, climatology, and soils and vegetation cover). In order to reach these objectives, the contribution of the Research Group of the Center for Geography and Spatial Planning Studies (CEGOT) and the Nature and Environmental Dynamics line of the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra - Portugal, above all, based on the experience of Professor Dr. Lúcio José Sobral da Cunha, who is dedicated to studies in the area of Physical Geography; Territory Planning and Environmental Studies; Climate change; Climate Risks; Automatic Cartography and GIS. Therefore, the knowledge of the developed methodologies and the discussion about the concepts to dialogue with the research studies in progress in Brazil is sought. (AU)
