Following her criticism of modern moral philosophy and its core concept of Ought, Elizabeth Anscombe makes a double sided suggestion: that a new ethical theory could be based on a language of virtues and the philosophy of psychology, and that we should, meanwhile, "banish ethics totally from our minds" and use 'thick' concepts without a theory. Our aim is to investigate the relationship between the two and its implications to the movements of virtue ethics and anti-theory.
