Abstract

This research project intends to investigate an assumption that the well-known problem of the ontological status of Nietzschean eternal recurrence of the same could be entered through a questioning of some aspects pertaining to the process of intellectual creation - more specifically, the proportions of and dynamics between reality as it is commonly perceived and that a creation seeks to devise in it. Once Nietzsche does not concede science to have the objectivity it arrogates itself and (as far as objectivity goes) equalizes it to art, they could be said to formally fall into the same category: poiesis. Moreover, for a poietical creation, being positively, objectively "true" - if such a thing is at all possible - would not be as decisive and poignant as its potential to successfully present the worldview it was designed to express would. Now, if what is expected from a poietical creation is for the worldview it offers to bring forth values to be assimilated (as it could be argued is the case with the thought of eternal recurrence), it has to consider what those to whom it will be directed require in order to first admit, then heed, and eventually incorporate values as their guiding north - and perhaps this understanding accounts, at least partly, for the scientific footings Nietzsche experiments with conveying to it, along with the ontology shifts he seems to entertain for it.
