Abstract

Andrology is the study of men`s reproductive health. It is estimated that 30% cases of infertility is caused by male factors, while other 20% have female and male causes combined. Seminal quality is a determining factor in a successful pregnancy. The semen quality is related to several metabolic and organic factors. The purpose of this study is to investigate if there is a concrete relationship between lipid profile and seminal quality, since there are few studies that focus on this correlation. Aims: Correlate the patients lipid profile with the seminal parameters and correlate the lipid profile with the different testosterone quartiles. Methods: Retrospective study, with data from 302 patient files - between years 2000 and 2018 - from the Andrology Sector of FMUSP and the Androscience Laboratory. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of FMUSP (n° 859215/2014). Data from seminal analysis, lipid profile and total testosterone were collected. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences - SPSS 21.0 will be used in the data tabulation.
