Abstract

Discipline behavior and how children are educated tend to be passed between generations, in which individuals usually replicate with their children the behavior that they parents had in their education. The objective of this study is to verify which variables are related to maintenance and to disruption of the transmission of child rearing practices between generations. 50 mothers and fathers with kids ages 3-6 years old will participate in this study. They will be recruited in a nursery school and social medias. Firstly, will be collected information about the characterization of the participants and data on child rearing discipline practices that parents use in their education and those practices that they use with their children. Participants are expected to replicate child rearing practices they have received from their parents with their children. Also, it is expected that the factors associated to the maintenance/disruption of this cycle are related to family model; access to information; partner support and/or socioeconomic and educational levels.
