Effect of aerobic training at the level of physical activity and functional capacity of women in hormonal treatment for breast cancer

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the major diseases that cause a decrease in the level of physical activity. One of the treatments used is hormone therapy, with the use of Tamoxifen and Aromatase Inhibitor, which are efficient drugs against recurrence or metastasis, but they present side effects that can contribute to the occurrence of metabolic alterations and general health. However, these can be reversed with the regular practice of physical activities. Objective: To evaluate the effects of aerobic training on the level of physical activity and functional capacity in women who use hormone therapy for breast cancer. Method: Women in hormone therapy (Tamoxifen and Aromatase Inhibitor) will participate in the study for breast cancer and compared with women without breast cancer. All participants will perform aerobic training on treadmill treadmills for 24 weeks (three times a week on interspersed days). Evaluations will be performed before the intervention and at the end of 24 weeks of intervention. Triaxial accelerometers will be used to measure intensity of daily physical activity and the functional capacity will be evaluated by means of the 6-minute walk test. The data will be analyzed by means of the comparison by the stationary t test with significance of 5%.
