Abstract

The internship project intends to deepen and subsidize the doctoral research, which aims at investigating a specific reconfiguration of the theme of the critique of political economy within the tradition of the Frankfurtian Critical Theory from the 1960s onwards. This development amounted to the neue Marx-Lektüre (NML), initiated by Adorno's students Hans-Georg-Backhaus and Helmut Reichelt. The heuristic hypothesis guiding the research during the internship is that NML's approach to the theory of value as a dialectical monetary theory further develops (and also relies on as well as correct) fundamental aspects of Adornian critical theory of society. The outcome can present elements of a renewed critical-theoretical and sound methodological program to thematize modern capitalism that can help substantiate and further Critical Theory tradition in a way that it is relevant to contemporary academic discussions about the issue. As a final step of the research, the NML results will be examined vis-à-vis its claims regarding its own critical trust and potentiality as well as the contribution of Adorno's critical theory for its formation.
