Abstract

Considering: i) the excellence of the work developed by the group of Dr. Miguel Angel Quintela at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO), as well as his experience in breast cancer research from preclinical models until multicenter clinical trials and ii) the studies carried out at UFSCar concerning to my doctoral project in the evaluation of the SSi6 effects (antitumor and antimetastatic) in breast cancer using the orthotopic syngeneic metastasis model in vivo, this project is focused on assessing the therapeutic potential of SSi6 using a clinically relevant animal model with immunosuppressed mice, which allows the evaluation of human tumor lines. The application of this model, known as Cell-line-Derived Xenograft (CDX), will permit to analyze the antimetastatic potential of SSi6 on MDA-MB-231 human triple-negative breast cells and help to understand its mechanism of action in vivo. All this, bringing positive results, will allow to consider the SSi6 as a potential candidate to be used in current chemotherapy.
