Abstract

This research aims to compare the "Comissão da Verdade Rubens Paiva" (Rubens Paiva Truth Commission) in Sao Paulo and in Rio de Janeiro (2012-2015) states. Both have profoundly different political-institutional natures, which have influenced each one's institutionalization levels. Thus, through a documentary analysis of these commissions' reports, besides the Bill voting processes in the Legislative Assemblies, we seek to observe how political-partisan leaders and civil society leaders were articulated around these activities, as well as how this articulation led to the commissions institutionalization, and to the achievement of concrete results of their work, as coordination and public policies of memory and truth. To this end, this research stage seeks to deepen the theoretical basis of the research, through access to foreign productions and also to deepen the methodological techniques used to analyze the documents already collected in Brazil.
