Abstract

The gloves, as protective equipment, aim to protect health professionals from exposure to blood or other bodily fluids such as secretions and excretes. However, it is the responsibility of the workers to recognize the situations and at what point the use of this resource is necessary. The indiscriminate and incorrect use of gloves increases the risk of cross-infection, as well as waste generation and unnecessary cost. Thus, this study aims to characterize the adherence to the use of gloves by the nursing team in a hospital environment from a descriptive exploratory method of quantitative scope. The research will be carried out in a philanthropic hospital in the interior of São Paulo with nursing professionals through observation, and registration in its own instrument, from the behavior of the team to the opportunities for the use of gloves. This study is Expected to characterize the use of gloves by nursing professionals seeking to identify possible non-conformities with current recommendations, identifying both risk of exposure occupation and transmission of microorganisms, Inappropriate use of gloves.
