Abstract

A new scenario has been created from the Arouca law in 2009 on as for animal utilization in teaching and research activities. Nowadays, Universities are searching for alternative methods to put together a quality teaching in veterinary medicine with a rational appliance of animals and their welfare demanded by law. The objective of this study is to analyze, biomechanically, the skin of cats´ corpses prepared with ethylic alcohol and curing salt, vacuum packed, aiming the veterinary surgery practice, besides obtaining microbiological evaluation during the process. We aim to consolidate the use of chemically prepared cadavers as an alternative method to veterinary surgery teaching, with no academic disadvantage.
