Abstract This project aims at fabrication of biocompatible magnetic nanoparticles on cobalt or nickel ferrite basis with a potential to adapt them for radiotherapy among other medical applications. Organic coating is expected to provide the biocompatibility of (Ni,Co)Fe2O4, whereas doping elements, RE=Sm, Eu, Gd, Er, are believed to enhance radiotherapeutic efficiency. We intend to adapt synthesis procedure to reach desired morphology and ensemble characteristics, thus tuning the overall properties of the particles for desired applications. Two novelties will be developed in this work plan, the incorporation of radioisotopes to the nanoparticles, in thiscase the 111In, allowing their tracking and the investigation of the chemical bond stability ofthis radioisotope to the nanoparticle and, second, the study of the dynamical behavior of the particles in liquid solutions, simulating their environment in medical applications. | |
