Abstract

The characteristics of plastic films used for silage packing is a determining factor in the maintenance of an anaerobic environment during the storage period, guaranteeing the final quality of the silage and reducing losses. The present work aims to evaluate the characteristics of 4 polyethylene films and an overlap of films and the effects on the nutritional quality, microbial profile and aerobic stability of the ensiled material. Five treatments will be designed as follows: linear polyethylene butene 120¼m (PLB120); linear polyethylene octene 120¼m (PLO120); 100 ¼m linear octene polyethylene (PLO100); linear polyethylene 80¼m octane (PLO80); linear polyethylene butene 120¼m + 50¼m linear octene polyethylene (PLB120 + PLO50). Experimental silos will be used with polyethylene water tanks with a volume of 500 liters (0.5 m³), with a surface area of 1.17 m 2 with a density of 550 kg / m³. Each treatment will have 4 replicates with a storage period of 120 days and the experimental design adopted will be completely randomized. During the experimental period samples of the films will be collected at the times: t0 days, t30 days, t60 days, t90 days and t120dias, which will be referred for analysis of thickness, tear resistance and oxygen permeability. The ensiled material will be evaluated before and after storage, and bromatological analyzes (MS, MM, PB, FDN, FDA, MO) will be carried out in addition to the determination of in vitro digestibility (IVDMD), pH, organic acid analysis, volatile fatty acids, soluble carbohydrates, particle size, dry matter losses, aerobic stability and quantification of the microbial profile of the silage.
