Abstract

This project of Scientific Initiation aims to study the adsorption kinetics of the methylene blue dye and ametryn herbicide on the surfaces of organically modified silicates (ormosils) obtained through the sol-gel process using silicon alkoxides with desirable organic functions. The ormosil matrices will also be prepared with the insertion of the sodium dodecyl sulfate surfactant to assess the influence of this component on the matrix structure and also on the adsorption of the dye. Absorption spectroscopy in the Ultraviolet Visible region will be used to monitor the incorporation of these compounds into the ormosils. Fourier Transform Infrared absorption spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy will be used to identify functional groups and possible molecular interactions. Specific surface area, cyclic voltammetry and scanning electronic microscopy analysis will provide information on poreormosils and their morphologies. It is expected with this study that the materials obtained here can contribute to the development of systems with applications in water decontamination.
