Abstract

Nosocomial infections represent a serious public health problem of a global nature, leading to an increase in the mortality and morbidity of the patients affected. With the advancement of technology and communication, cellular devices have become indispensable items for modern society, being transported to the most diverse environments and, therefore, they are in the focus of studies related to the potential factors related to their harmful effects. It is well known from a number of human health studies that the contamination rates of the medical staff of the medical staff are high, even with the infection prevention plan so well established in hospitals. In veterinary medicine studies on this subject are scarce, but alarming from an epidemiological point of view. In this sense, the objective of this work is to evaluate the presence of E. coli and Proteus mirabilis, two important bacteria associated with nosocomial infection, in cellular devices. For this, the samples will be collected from the team's cellular devices through swabs, and detection of the proposed microorganisms will be performed through PCR. The isolates obtained will be submitted to antimicrobial susceptibility tests for resistance evaluation. Also, a genetic diversity test will be performed to confirm if isolated strains in surgical wounds may be related to those in the evaluated cellular devices. (AU)
