Abstract

At this stage of research we intend to investigate how the debate about the Cartesian soul-body interaction is established in the perspectives of current opinion disputes concerning this question about the classic commentators of the seventeenth century. That is, it seeks to delimit the views on whether substantial union creates a parallelism between the two separate substances or forms concrete man, and whether this concept can be clearly and distinctly understood. For this it is necessary to understand how the philosophy of the body is seen in modern philosophy, the separation between the thinking substance and the extended substance, the unity of the body and the spirit or what the soul can do in front of the body.
