Abstract Several research groups studied swine microbiome of different samples, generally finding high frequency of Bacteriodetes e Firmicutes phyla, but no group studied the microbial composition of oral fluid until the present moment. The collection of oral fluid is presented as an alternative for the search for antibodies and pathogens, with sensitivity similar to traditional methods and smaller impacts to animal welfare at the time of collection. Thus, the objective of this project will be to determine the microbioma of oral fluid of pigs and their relationships with the fecal microbioma composition and to verify the relationships between these compositions. We expect that the sum of these results could support the use of oral fluid as a sample of choice for monitoring and sanitary surveys, favoring the collection of samples for the technician and reducing the impact on animal welfare, maintaining the diagnostic specificity and sensitivity. | |
