Abstract

University libraries are, in addition to information centers, places to study and carry out academic work and, ultimately, socialization. Thus, the spaces that compose it must be adequate to these different functions; consequently, the lighting should create the ambiance expected for them. The goal of this research is to evaluate how users of the different places that compose a university library relate space qualities to their lighting. A case study will be carried out in the library of the São Paulo State University (UNESP), campus Bauru, by simulations of its digital model with the DIALux evo program, checked by measurements of luminance and luminance distributions, and by application of a questionnaire to its users. The purpose of the questionnaire is to verify how survey participants perceive space qualities. The data will be treated by techniques of multidimensional analysis to generate an overview of the degree of importance of the various lighting quality variables in the perception of space. (AU)
