Abstract

This project deals with concepts related to Industry 4.0, also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a not so discussed subject in the current national context, compared to other countries. The general objective is to conceptualize the Industry 4.0 phenomenon and the elements that characterize it by means of a literature review of selected papers. As the subject is broad, an application with a focus on autonomous elements - important components of Industry 4.0 - is proposed. Thereby, the specific objective of the project is the modeling and computational simulation of a simple production system consisted of production lines, with independent stages, in which the products can decide autonomously where they will be processed, at each stage. As a contribution, this project aims to increment the discussions about a contemporaneous concept that is still little implemented or discussed in Brazil. In practice, to take these new ideas - about autonomous production technologies - to managers and practitioners can contribute to the development of the Brazilian companies, making them more effective and competitive in the global market. Furthermore, the results of the project can be used as a base for future research that aims to implement Industry 4.0, especially in Brazil or other countries that didn't adopt it yet. (AU)
