Abstract Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances (TIDs) are fluctuations in the ionospheric plasma, influenced by gravity waves originated from several sources, e.g., convective storms, earthquakes, orography, auroral heating, and others. In South America, the sources of these TIDs were not investigated deeply and it has no previous study in this research line. Therefore, the project proposes to investigate TIDs sources in the Andes Mountains. To do this, we will use the ray tracing technique and investigate where these TIDs are originating, e.g., orographic and/or convective storms, and how they propagate vertically in the atmosphere.
