Abstract

Introduction: Intense physical activities generate physiological changes. These modifications are capable of producing tissue damage, metabolic changes and consequently imply a decrease in sports performance. Not all health professionals who work in athlete follow-up have access to the great mechanisms of laboratory analysis because of the high cost. In this sense, tools that can reproduce responses equated to lactate measurement, in relation to the fatigue process, seem to be relevant. Objective: To analyze the correlation between blood lactate levels and the Modified Borg Scale in amateur cycling athletes during an incremental test. Method: The study should recruit at least 30 cycling volunteers, found in the Ribeirão Preto region, who fit the proposed inclusion and exclusion criteria, male, aged between 18 and 45 years. Participants will undergo an incremental test in a stationary roller, in order to correlate the blood lactate and the Subjective Perception of Effort through the application of the BORG Modified Scale. The applied tests will happen in a single day. Study evaluations will occur for 1 hour. Initially, the athletes will be guided to an initial evaluation, to carry out a questionnaire about personal information such as age, height, weight, absence or presence of diseases that may make it impossible to participate. Athletes will be instructed to perform the incremental test on the stationary roller. During the exercise, blood samples will be collected every 2 minutes for evaluation of blood lactate levels, as well as the evaluation of the Perception of Effort using the BORG scale throughout the exercise. The Shapiro- Wilk to verify the distribution of the data and will be applied compatible tests for the correlation analyzes. A significance level of 5% will be considered.
