Abstract

The following study has as object the risco by Antonio Francisco Lisboa for the Franciscan chapel at Rio das Mortes. This risco is made by two drawings: a lateral and a front view (figg. 1 e 2). This study pretends to not only exam the drawings but also their relation with the church as built by Francisco Lima Cerqueira (fig. 4), making use of the most updated bibliography since the classics of the Modernist generation, until the more recent revisions of the canonical views. At the same time, making precise measurements of the chapel and the drawings. From this material it will be possible to understand how much the risco instructions were followed, what are the similarities with the attributed works of Antonio Francisco Lisboa, and last, a better understanding of the architectural fabric at Minas Gerais.
