Abstract

Knee injuries lead to limitations and disabilities that negatively impact quality of life and functionality during daily activities. Despite the various impairments resulting from knee dysfunctions, there are no assessment tools that consider the multiple aspects of functionality. One way to look at functionality more completely is by using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, which prioritizes functionality as a component of health. The aim of this study will be to evaluate the construct validity of a core set of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health for knee dysfunctions. For this, a cross-sectional study will be carried out at the Center for Excellence in Clinical Research in Physical Therapy, Universidade Cidade de São Paulo. One hundred participants of both sexes, aged 18 years or older, whether or not being treated and/or postoperatively, with clinical diagnosis of knee pathology and/or complaint of pain and/or instability and/or with restriction of the knee movement will be included. The core set for knee dysfunctions (all category descriptions will be considered and to quantify functionality the qualifiers of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health will be used), the International Knee Documentation Commitee subjective form, the self-report overall health and functionality, and the overall health and functionality status rated by the researcher will be assessed. To verify the construct validity of the core set, the Rasch analysis will be used.
