Reading the cordel literature in the public school: from oralization to the writing practice

Abstract

The Cordel literature (chap-book) is in the historical, political and social memory of our country and, in September 2018, was recognized as a cultural patrimony of Brazil by National Historic and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN). Considering its importance, this project proposes to investigate the possible impacts of the reading this literature in the teaching of Portuguese written language with classes of 4th and 5th years of Elementary School in a public school, raising questions about looking at the various ways that oral reading relates to the textual production of students; that impacts on creativity and textual repertoire this approach can bring to future productions and which challenges will need to be overcome from the elaborated activities. In this perspective, the proposal develops through a cultural and literary approach and will constantly seek to encourage reading and enjoyment of the different forms of cultural expression. In the methodology of fieldwork, together with reading activities, collective and individual textual productions are planned, articulated to the genre cordel. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the mediation of the researcher will seek to focus on the rewriting of texts as one of the ways to favor the analysis of language as a system by students and appropriation of their norms.
