Abstract

The overwhelming amount of heterogeneous data produced by scientific experimentsrequires appropriate models (and formalisms) suited to express the meaning of data forhumans and machines. Data semantics can play a key role in data exchange acrossscientific repositories. However, there is a lack of techniques to enable semantic retrievaland interoperability of scientific data. The problem concerns creating a set of data structuresand software infrastructure to allow interoperability of distinct data collections available at CCES, generated by its projects and/or used by them. These data are characterized by theirintrinsic heterogeneity, covering many spatio-temporal scales and being related to distinctproblem domains. (AU)
