Abstract

This proposal is based on a Schumpeterian and Kaleckian theoretical framework to compare the competitive performance of the Brazilian industry with industrial sectors from a group of selected European countries. The dynamic effects of innovations on the competitive process in selected industrial sectors will be captured through a sectoral simulation model, considering the technological specificities of real sectors of Brazilian economic activity and of European countries to be selected. The sectoral evolutionary model proposed in Melo (2016) will be adapted to simulate the impact of innovations on the development of competition in the selected sectors, obtaining their dynamic results expressed in the following variables: (1) Market Share; (2) Mark-up; (3) gross profit; (4) Concentration in the market; (5) Profit sharing in sectoral income.
