Abstract

Pregnancy, by itself, is a disease that is observed to a physiological person in insulin and a progesterone is one of the hormones responsible for this condition, known as being a counterregulatory hormone. Associated with this picture has an obesity that has been taking the proportions in the global context of changes in the lifestyle. Together, both factors can lead to a metabolic condition even more favorable to the development of gestational diabetes. In view of this, we intend to evaluate hypercaloric and progesterone on pancreatic beta cell secretion, glycemic metabolism and beta cell mass. For this purpose, normal and metabolic nutritional formulas will be used, such as: body weight, energy expenditure, fasting glucose, insulin and glucose tolerance test. The same happens with the morphometric analysis of the pancreas and the study of insulin secretion by isolated islets. Thus, with the objective of testing and evaluating hypercaloric and progesterone on insulin secretion and a beta-cell mass so that at the end of the work we understood a little more about the relationship between obesity and DG.
