Abstract

The C24:1 sulfatide belongs to a family of sulfoglycolipids that perform several important biological functions. It is recognized as an antigen by CD1-restricted T cells; the use of a suitable carrier might result in the activation of these cells with potential immunotherapeutic applications. The cationic lipid DODAB, which has been extensively used as an immunoadjuvant, may serve as an adequate carrier for the C24:1 sulfatide. The aim of this Project is to characterize the structure of DODAB large vesicles containing different molar fractions of C24:1 sulfatide. This characterization will allow interesting assemblies to be tested as immunotherapeutic tools in the future. This Project is attached to the Thematic Grant 2016/13368-4: "Nanostructured systems: from membrane biomimetic models to carriers of bioactives". (AU)
