Abstract

Starting from the analysis of the Luso-Dutch wars, resulting from the Dutch occupation of the northern region of Brazil, especially the region between Recife and Porto Calvo, between 1630 and 1654, we propose to analyze the impacts of this context on the daily life of society. We hypothesized that such impacts could be experienced in particular by women, both in their negative effects and in the possibilities for action. By analyzing various sources available about the period, we intend to investigate more closely the role of women in times of war and Dutch occupation, both in conflicts (directly or indirectly) and in daily life.
