Abstract

Obesity is recognized as one of the main epidemics of the 21st century, and although the cause most attributed to its genesis is the permanent and prolonged imbalance between caloric intake and energy expenditure, other factors linked to the modern lifestyle are also pointed out as potential contributors to weight gain, such as sleep. There is evidence of a substantial decrease in sleep duration for the general population, and this decline is also being considered a public health epidemic. The sleep-obesity relationship can be attributed to changes in hormones and food consumption, increased pro-inflammatory cytokines and increased social jetlag. The current proposal deals with a cross-sectional study with two parallel groups of adult individuals with grade I obesity and eutrophic. The objective of the work is to evaluate the association between duration, sleep quality, social jetlag and nutritional status and food consumption of young adults. The study period will be 14 days. All assessments will be carried out on the first meeting and on the 14th day. Statistical analysis will be performed according to the behavior of the data, using parametric and non-parametric tests when necessary. Thus, the data will be presented as mean and standard deviation, considering p d 0.05 for significance. (AU)
