Abstract Introduction: Several current studies indicate a close relationship between chronotype, chronic non-communicable diseases and diet. It is often not possible to respect your own chronotype or need for sleep, due to the need to adapt to society's schedules, such as going to school or work. These changes in sleep time are related to eating habits and metabolism, such as controlling food intake and glycemic and cholesterol levels. Individuals with greater social jetlag, a chronic phenomenon that reflects the misalignment between individual circadian rhythm and real sleep time, have worse lifestyle habits and inadequate food consumption. Thus, the importance of studying sleep metabolism and its relationship with quality of life is increasingly evident, as it may result in new nutritional therapies in the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases. Objective: The objective of this study will be to evaluate the association between the chronotype of undergraduate students and social jetlag and its effect on food quality. Methods: The study will be carried out with volunteers (n=50) young people of both sexes aged between 18 and 25 years old, undergraduate students at night, who work in person during the week and have free waking and sleeping times at the end of week. Questionnaires will be applied to assess chronotype and social jetlag, sleep quality, sleepiness, in addition to a Sleep Diary and a Food Diary to assess sleep quality and food consumption, respectively. Analysis of results: The results will be presented as mean and standard deviation. For all analyses, a significance level will be established at p<0.05. | |
