Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a public health problem in the world, due to its magnitude, transcendence and vulnerability. In Brazil, in 2017, 69,569 new cases of TB with an incidence coefficient of 33.5 cases/100 thousand inhabitants, between the period 2008 to 2017. This is a retrospective cohort study, the study population will consist of all cases of MDR-TB of individuals by filling in the "Type of address" field of your notification form, with the information "Inmate" or those that are characterized as institutionalized in the Paraná state prison system. The data will be collected through the TB case notification forms from 2008 to 2019 from the Tuberculosis Patient Control System and the Notifiable Diseases Information System, allocated in the Epidemiological Surveillance Department of the Paraná State Health Secretariat and PNCTof the Ministry of Health allocated in Brasília (DF). An exploratory approach to the data will be performed with the removal of duplicates in TB case reports. Through the individual information contained in the PPL notification form, a descriptive analysis will be performed with calculation of absolute and relative frequencies of TB-MDR cases. The treatment outcomes of MDR-TB patients in prison units will be described. Then, the incidence rate of MDR-TB cases will be calculated within the prison units in the state of Paraná. To identify the factors associated with the emergence of TB-MDR in the PPL, a binary logistic regression will be conducted. (AU)
