Based on the studies of Material Culture and Written Culture, the following project aims to propose a critical edition and to build the trajectory of Divertimento Admirável para os Historiadores Curiosos Observarem as Máquinas do Mundo Reconhecidas nos Sertões da Navegação das Minas de Cuiabá e Mato Grosso. Dedicated to the Secretary of State for the Marine and Overseas Domains Division, Martinho de Mello e Castro, the narrative was written in 1783, by the "sertanista" Manuel Cardoso de Abreu, and describes the path between Araritaguaba and Cuiabá, and the situation of the Iguatemi prision, Cuiabá village and the city of São Paulo in the second half of the 18th century. Considering the report as an artifact, we intend to analyze its acquisition, production, circulation, conservation and transmission, using its transformations in space and time as a platform for understanding certain social relations.
