Abstract

In situ measurements allow to study the physicochemical properties of materials under the same experimental conditions under which their performance is measured. Nanomaterials are very important in electrochemistry, in the application of nanoparticles as electrodes. Bragg Coherent Diffraction Imaging (BCDI) is a technique that uses X-rays to make 3D images and map nanocrystal stress and defects of individual nanoparticles. However, for this technique to be applied, it is necessary an electrochemical cell that can be adapted in the synchrotron beamline where the measurement will be performed and transparent to X-rays (among other characteristics). Thus, in this project we will develop Microfluidic Electrochemical Cells (CEM) that can be adapted in the Carnaúba beamline of SIRIUS. After the development of the CEM, their electrochemical characterization will be made by cyclic voltammetry, mainly by performing underpotential deposition (UPD) experiments. Finally, we will deposit palladium nanoparticles electrochemically in the CEM and characterize the nanoparticles using BCDI.
