Abstract

Chemical Looping, CLC combustion is a very promising technology for the generation of hot gases and CO2 capture. CLC does not require pre- and post-combustion separation processes typically found in other carbon capture technologies. Intending to comply with the current Paris Agreement, to which Brazil is a signatory, the development and application of CLC technology serves the strategic interests of the Brazilian energy sector. It is worth noting that the combination of fuels from biomass with CLC can turn the resulting processes into negative carbon emitters, following the specification of a BECCS (bio-energy carbon capture and storage). In this context, it is proposed to study the technical and economic feasibility of the CLC process supplied with residues from the sugar-alcohol plant, through modeling and computer simulation in engineering software.
