Abstract

One of the processes of promoting excitations in trapped atoms is through the imposition of fields that produce mechanical excitations in the gas. Such excitations translate into different types of effects. As the atoms are trapped, the energy can be coupled to the system through movements of the center of mass (oscillations in the potential) or through the heating of the gas (increase of internal energy). In this work we propose to carry out an experiment that allows us to evaluate how the energy is divided in the external or internal part of the system, during mechanical excitations. Such results are important in the general context of quantum fluid excitation, performed within our laboratory in which the work is inserted. Preliminary investigations containing the quantum phase will be done at the end of the work.
