Abstract This research has the objective to investigate and reflect on history, memory and musical practices performed by Folia de Reis Belo Sol de Santa Maria at the city of Osasco, metropolitan region of São Paulo. The research is about a group that carries out musical and religious events inspired by practices found in the countryside of Southeast and Midwest regions of Brazil. Beyond understanding its link between music and devotion, it also seeks to investigate the sociability practices, the relationships with locality - geographical and related to the structure of feelings (APPADURAI, 1996) - and its identity establishment. From the collection of testimonies and interviews, analysis of documents and photos and participant observation through autoetnography, this research seeks to reflect the local music king performed by this Folia through ethnomusicological references. | |
