Abstract

This research project has a double focus, theoretical and ethnographic. Firstly, it seeks to investigate how a set of concerns regarding gender and sexuality are built and consolidated in the field of musicology more widely and ethnomusicology in a more particular way, using both feminist and queer/LGBTQ (ethno)musicological contributions. Later, it seeks to produce an ethnography about local musicking experiences that work explicitly and take these questions as structuring axes of their artistic practices, either in musical composition or in audiovisual production and in spaces of sociability and LGBTQIA+ interaction. Both theoretical discussions about (ethno)musicology and ethnographic analisis on how musical practices build localities and are build by them are important research topics of the Thematic Project Local Musicking: new tracks for ethnomusicology (FAPESP nº 2016 / 05318-7) which this research is associated with.
