Abstract

Selenium-Silver based matrix exhibit interesting structural, optical and photoluminescent properties, which accounts for a great potential material in the field of physics, chemistry and biology. Moreover, the chemistry of selenium and silver is very prominent in biological systems due to in part from their interaction with molecules like proteins. The interaction of the femtosecond (fs) and nanosecond (ns) laser irradiation with materials induces the formation of nanoparticles from the bulk, thus altering its stoichiometry and generating different types of defects, which will be studied as a function of the Ag2SeO4 and Ag2SeO3 photoluminescence and biological properties. Theoretical studies by means of density functional theory (DFT) developed in the Laboratory of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry coordinated by Prof. Dr. Juan Andrés will allow a deeper insight and knowledge to understand the behavior of the compounds.
