Abstract

The order Mysida is composed by small crustaceans, similar morphologically to shrimps, but phylogenetically very different of these. So far, the order, which has a big diversity of animals, does not have many studies about its phylogeography. A large quantity of Mysida species occur on the Brazilian coast, a very biologically rich environment, and the knowledge about its distribution and genetic pattern on the country is very poor. With this in mind, this project has on its main objectives to understand the populational structure of two misidacean species, as well as its phylogenetic position regard other species from the group, from analysis of individuals of beaches in south and south of Brazil. A morphoanatomy analysis of the species will be held in order to review its unanimity through genetic and morphological analysis. Until now, the order Mysida has no studies about its phylogeography in Brazil and, therefore, this project seems to contribute with better knowledge about this poorly studied group, its distribution, evolutive history and connectivity between populations.
