Abstract

This research project relates to contemporary political philosophy departing from a question which becomes central within the boundaries of the notion of individual, that is, the problem of race. This is an investigation which requires an effort aiming at bringing together traditions and concepts pertaining to the transformations guiding the notion of individual. The analysis of the objective conditions pertaining to such transformations depends on the intersection between theories which are capable of establishing a dialogue with the philosophical tradition, but at the same time are rooted in the political and social configurations of today. The conceptual lines which are brought together in this project comprehend the theory of individuation and of the transindividual as brought forth by French philosopher Gilbert Simondon and also the critical theory of western patterns of racialization and the notion of self-determination as developed by Cameroonian philosopher Achille Mbembe.
