Abstract

The present project intends to study the way Graciliano Ramos, by means of his fiction and other literary texts, interferes in the national debate about education. We will examine the progressivist premises of his idea of pedagogy, in dialogue with the Escola Nova´s ideals of promoting education as an inducer of citizen action, and at the same time, we will study the hierarchisation and social discrimination of cultures inside this ideia of progress.
