Abstract

Little is known about the inflammatory response to miniscrew loading. Better understanding of the biomarkers involved in this process may help to reduce the risk factors that can lead to the premature loss of the miniscrew. Objectives: The aim of this study will be to evaluate the levels of IL-1±, IL-1², IL-1Ra, IL-10, IL-13 in the peri-miniscrew implant crevicular fluid (MICF). Methods:The study sample will be comprise 20 immediately loaded (Group I) and 20 unloaded miniscrews (Group II). A load in the range of 150 to 200gF will be immediately applied to the miniscrews in the loaded group after the placement surgery. MICF was collected at three different time points: at baseline (T0), at day 7 (T2) and at day 14 (T3). The levels of the biomarkers will be measured using a multiplexed bead immunoassay. Intergroup comparisons will be made using Mann-Whitney test. Friedman and Dunn's multiple comparison tests will be used to evaluate intragroup differences over time.
