Abstract

This paper intends to analyze, based on the French Discourse Analysis theory, the meanings attributed to the female virginity, thought in a historical path until the contemporaneity. In our theoretical discussion, we will mobilize the concepts of discursive subject, ideology, discursive memory and discursive formation in order to interpret a corpus of analysis composed of packages of two erotic products, aimed at (re)create, in the intimate area of the female body, similar conditions to that of a virgin body, and also analyze the speeches conveyed in relation to hymenoplasty (surgical restoration of the hymen). We intend to investigate the effects of meaning attributed to the female virginity and the way it is spoken in/by the formations materialized in language and history, whose stabilized discourse indicates a regularization of the effects of possession and subjugation of the women's body in relation to the men.
