Abstract

This project addresses the trajectories of freed African women, who were masters of her own husbands, through the study about the interlacing between gender, affective relationship and social dynamics permeated by slavery in Eighteenth-Century Minas Gerais. The marriage in the mineira slavery society will be interrogated through Western Africa's cultural referential, emphasizing the African men's and women's experiences and agencies. It also analyzes the possible developments of this kind of union in a hierarchical, patriarchal, and catholic society. (AU)
