Abstract Pediatric stroke is a condition with important impact on the quality of life of the patient and his family. Mortality associated with stroke in this age group may be related to socioeconomic factors, which vary according to the location. Therefore, it is important to study the temporal trend of stroke mortality in the federative units of Brazil. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the time trends of stroke mortality in children aged 0 to 14 years, between 1990 and 2017, in Brazil and their respective federative units. Methods: This ecological study will use data obtained from the "Global Burden Disease" (GBD), a universal global platform maintained by the "Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME)". The definition of stroke will include ischemic, subarachnoid hemorrhagic and intracerebral hemorrhagic subtypes. The time trend will be estimated according to patterns of location, sex, age and year, with a 95% confidence interval. For the analysis, a linear regression model will be applied. The statistical program Stata (Data Analysis and Statistical Software) version 14.0® will be used. Expected results: Evidence that there was a reduction in stroke mortality in children during the studied period in all federative units of Brazil, although some of them present higher rates than others.
