Abstract

Microalgae have diverse biochemical composition that makes them a potential source of compounds of commercial interest for application in the animal feed, human nutrition, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and energy production industries. The improvement of the cultivation of new species is an important step towards the development of new technologies for the economically viable use of these microorganisms. Thus, this project aims to create adequate conditions for the development on a larger scale of the new microalgae species, selected in previous stages of the thematic project. The main cultivation parameters will be tested at different levels and responses, regarding growth, will be monitored to define the ideal conditions for each species. The results will be compared and the best systems for the scaling of new species will then be defined. (AU)
